Blanche Lenora Grigson was born November 23, 1883 in Augusta, Illinois. With the aid of a scholarship she attended Northwestern Academy, 1900-1902. She attended Northwestern University from 1902 to 1906 where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. For two years following (1906-08) she taught school. In 1908 she married Thomas E.
